Weather and visibility

The morning conditions were cold (5 C) with some breeze and overcast changing to light rain with increasing winds. Round two had winds up to 7-8 m/s with light rain at times and cool conditions. Round 3 started clearing with winds reducing. Rounds 4 and 5 were warmer (19C in round 5) with sunny conditions and light 2-3 m/s winds. The flyoff began with light winds but very strong winds came (over the limit) which caused cancellation of the flyoff until Feb 16th morning

Flight line - changes of position

The flight line location was located North West from the camping area to allow max utilization of the available space. For the morning flyoff (Feb 16th) the line was moved South East closer to the eastern orchard to allow for the expected West wind direction.

Number of starting poles

Each competitor selected a location on the flight line and flew the contest from this position. No poles were used. Markers identified the area in which each event was constrained.

Number of competitors per pole

No poles were used.

Local rules or deviations from Sporting Code

Deviations from the Sporting Code were: the lack of starting poles. 5 rounds were used rather than 7 (see above). Flyoff #1 was 6 minute max for F1A,B and C followed by Flyoff #2, a 10 minute maximum Feb 16th morning. A team competition was provided for each event except F1Q.

A French competitor (Didier Chevenard) suffered a hand injury in round 3 which required treatment. One of the contest helpers drove him to the nearest hospital and he receives stitches and returned to support the French team. A lack of a shield on his rubber motor winder was the root cause of the injury.
